Chartering Yacht Victoria International Marina

Bareboat or crewed; sail or power charter vessels are welcome at Victoria International Marina.    Chartering is an excellent way to not only cruise the Northwest waters and the Inside Passage, but it’s a great way to try different styles of cruising.

Charter cruising is really all about flexibility.  If you do not own a boat, you can rent one and cruise some of the most beautiful destinations on the west coast.  No experience is necessary.  The charter company can provide an instructor skipper to teach you how to handle a boat or you can hire the captain to guide you to the most beautiful places.  First mates, chefs and naturalists are available too.  The surprising thing is that chartering a boat is relatively inexpensive compared to staying at luxury inns and hotels.  Your destination can change every day without having to pack and unpack your luggage between destinations.  The trips are memorable for all wildlife experiences, secluded anchorages, and the choice of fine dining destinations – right on the water.

Flexibility includes the type of boats from which to choose, everything from sailboats and power trawlers, to large yachts.  Take a look at the different company’s websites and the variety of boats they offer.  Often the search starts with selecting power or sail.  Then how many people will be on the boat.  How many staterooms will you need?  Do your guests’ mind sharing ahead, or do you need an individual en-suite head for all cabins?  The age of the boat may vary the price.

Some charter operators offer a stay-the-night-before option so you can get an early start cruising on the first day of your charter.  This option allows you to get on board, load your personal items, equipment, and provisions.  You can sleep aboard the boat but may not leave the dock until the morning of your planned charter.  This option is usually charged at half the daily charter rate.

At the end of the charter, you will be expected to do some basic cleaning to return the boat in good order.  Wash the dishes and put things away in the galley; re-fill the fuel and water tanks, empty holding tanks and hose down the exterior of the boat.

Some charter companies offer concierge services where they will provisions the boat for you, set an itinerary and help with trip planning, and clean up the boat afterwards

You can plan and take your dream trip without the cost of owning a boat.  Or, if you live and boat in different areas of the world, charter a boat and enjoy Pacific Northwest and Inside Passage cruising.
