The Gulf Islands
The Gulf Islands, which consist of 200 islands between Mainland B.C. and Vancouver Island, includes 5 major islands. Salt Spring, Pender, Mayne, Galiano and Saturna embrace a laid back pace while offering stunning scenery. Salt Spring Island, home to a population of over 10,000 is home to a huge Saturday Ganges Market – the perfect place to explore locally made art, food and crafts. Pender Island, home to the stunning Poet’s Cove Resort, is home to approximately 2,200 people. For panoramic views from Galiano Island, a hike up Mount Galiano will take you only 45-minutes. Best explored by bike, Mayne Island, is the place to unwind and do nothing. And, for quiet peace and enjoyment, Saturna Island, as the most remote of the islands, provide a great place to relax.
A true four-seasons playground, the Okanagan Valley, located in Southern B.C., reaches some of the warmest temperatures in the province. Including cities like Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon and Osoyoos as top vacation destinations, the valley offers visitors pristine beaches, world-renowned wine country, golf in the summer, and sports like world-class skiing and snowboarding in the winter. No matter the season, the Okanagan offers an unforgettable experience most anytime of the year.
Though populated by just under 2,000 full-time residents, Tofino is brimming with tourists in any season. And, for quick jaunt off the island, an inter-island ferry will take you to neighbouring Lopez, Orcas, and Shaw Islands.
