Ringing in 2017

We are excited to be expanding upon the beauty of Victoria’s Inner Harbour this summer with the launch of our world-class marina, creating a spectacular new marine-based tourism destination for Victoria’s middle harbour. We envision the marina to be a dynamic and vibrant addition to the Victoria harbour community, with a goal to continually create “remarkable experiences”, which is our mantra.

Once complete, Victoria International Marina will feature 28 slips, ranging in size from 65-feet to 150-feet, along with two new buildings with over 12,000 square feet of rentable space, designed for additional amenities catering to both visitors and residents. Plans are already underway for a new restaurant.

Along with our launch, in 2017 Victoria will be celebrating the remarkable renovation of the world-famous Fairmont Empress, the start of a new, luxury, high speed catamaran service between Victoria and Vancouver harbours and BC’s capital city will also be joining in on the birthday celebrations happening, from coast to coast, for Canada’s 150th anniversary of confederation.

And the luxury yachting world is beginning to take notice. Not only is the Victoria International Marina the first purpose built luxury yacht marina in Canada, set in one of the world’s most beautiful harbours, it is also at the heart of the Pacific North West’s spectacular cruising waters. Whether searching for Desolation Sound, exploring the scattered islands of the Broken Group, and being introduced to the varied and colourful personalities found among the Gulf Islands, experienced boaters have known for generations that cruising Canada’s West Coast waters provides exclusive access to secluded golden beaches, imposing glaciers and ancient forests.

With the number of yachts and super yachts on the rise, Victoria will be joining a prestigious list of global, elite marina destinations launching in 2017 including Porto Montenegro, Montenegro, One Ocean Port Vell and Vilanova Grand Marina in Barcelona Spain, Grand Harbour Marina, Valetta Malta, Limassol Marina in Cyprus, Marina di Stabia, Italy, Christophe Harbour, St. Kitts in the Caribbean and Marina Split in Croatia. Construction has also begun on the new Bluff Bay Marina in Corpus Christi, Texas, which will also open this spring.

As we introduce our concept of a world class marina facility with state of the art security and technology to the local and international boating community, we are often asked, “what took you so long”? It seems pent up demand has been growing since the vision for the marina was first introduced over 30 years ago. We will be on the road once again in the new year, presenting the Victoria International Marina at boat shows and marina conferences and we are excited to expand people’s knowledge of Victoria as more than a world class city destination but also one of the finest boating destinations in the world.

We are very excited about what the new year will bring and to show off our spectacular new marina to the world. Happy New Year!
