Port of Victoria Traffic Rules

The Port of Victoria has specific rules as to where boats may travel and how. Be sure the skipper/captain reviews these rules before entering the harbour.

Public Port of Victoria Traffic Scheme

For official information on marine aids to navigation and water depths, refer to Chart 3412 published by the Canadian Hydrographic Service.

Customs and Immigration

Vessels entering Canada from foreign waters must report to the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) before mooring or dropping anchor on Canadian soil.

Boats clear customs using the dedicated phone at the Raymur Point CBSA Boat Dock. This 160’ (49m) dock is located directly across the harbour from Victoria International Marina, between Fisherman’s Wharf and the Coast Harbourside Hotel marina.

As you pass the float homes at the east end of Fisherman’s Wharf (Shoal Point), look for a single long dock with yellow-capped pilings marked “Customs”—that is the Raymur Point CBSA Boat Dock. There is a phone on the float that connects you with CBSA. Be sure to reference Raymur Point CBSA Boat Dock as your reporting site. Note that only the boat master may leave the vessel until authorization is given by the CBSA.

Please be ready to provide:

  • Name and registration # of the vessel
  • Name of operator (Master) of the vessel
  • Names, nationalities, and dates of birth of all persons aboard
  • Itemized list of stores and supplies acquired abroad, whether dutiable or not

If your vessel is unable to safely dock at the customs dock, contact our marina office directly (1 778 432 0477), a member of our team would be pleased to assist in making alternate arrangements.

Once you have cleared customs, please hail the Victoria International Marina on VHF 68 for pilotage assistance and details on moorage at our marina.
