Best Months To Cruise The Pacific Northwest

The prime cruising months begin in April and end by October, with July-August is the most popular.  Boat are used year-round in our area and north of Victoria.  On winter weekends popular ports are surprisingly busy.   However, cabin heat is a must in the winter.   Pleasure boating is best done between early May and late September.  Really dependable summer weather (little rain, long days of glorious sunshine) normally doesn’t arrive in the Northwest until early June and further Northwest July.  September can be an outstanding cruising month.  The crowds are gone and the weather can be perfect.

Use caution with winter cruising north of Victoria as storms lash the BC coast.  A Northwest boat with a warm and dry pilothouse is the way to enjoy winter cruising year round.  It takes an understanding of the weather, and a warm dry boat to enjoy the scenery.  There are many resources available and help keep you from an unexpected surprises.
