Shopping Lower Johnson Street Victoria

Johnson Street, between Wharf and Government Streets, is known best as LoJo (or Lower Johnson). A unique and concentrated eclectic shopping district, the one-block stretch is marked with brightly coloured Victorian-style buildings flanking either side of the street. Home to boutique and luxury shopping, here you’ll find clothing, textiles and more.   Just a short stroll along the scenic Songhees walkway from Victoria International Marina.

With a cult-like following, Lululemon was among the first designer to craft fashion-inspired yoga wear. Home to luxury sports-wear, Lululemon carries ‘technical athletic clothes for yoga, running, working out, and most other sweaty pursuits.’

John Fluevog Shoes

Designed by Vancouver-born shoe-designer, John Fluevog Shoes, has flagship stores in other major centres like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco in addition to its relatively new space in Victoria. Shoe wearers (akin to collectors) can not only purchase shoes on Lower Johnson but can visit the store’s Flueseum too.

Market Square

With a long history in Victoria’s downtown core, Market Square is home to over 30 vendors including restaurants, cafes, office spaces, and plenty of shopping. Oscar and Libby’s is ‘jam-packed with all that is weird, wacky, and a wee bit whimsical.’ Ollie Quinn, liaising directly with manufacturers, presents ‘exceptional, in-house designed eyewear at an affordable price.’ And, providing eclectic variety, Paboom, sells affordable and stylish jewelry, art prints, kitchenware, glassware, textiles and more.

Selling clothing, footwear, and accessories, Still Life is a boutique retailer with vintage and modern Canadian men’s and women’s fashion. Home to retail brands from smaller, international fashion labels, Still Life is known for great customer service and quality goods.

Citizen Clothing

Geared specifically to men, Citizen Clothing is a smart men’s ‘haberdashery’ or men’s shop. Featuring a twist on classic designs, Citizen’s contemporary interior features button-ups, sweaters, polos, jeans, and more. Brands (to name only a few) include Digel, Baracuta, Barbour, and Ulrich Lang.

Suasion

Featuring both local and international brands, Suasion is a high-end women’s boutique. With classic and vintage-inspired designs, here you’ll find footwear, bags, accessories, and clothing. With edgy, yet classy products, items purchased at Suasion won’t be found anywhere else.

Paper Box Arcade

Directly across from the entrance to Market Square is a somewhat hidden shopping corridor named, Paper Box Arcade. Here you’ll find an array of stores and a beautiful garden. Maude Kids Decor features primarily danish imports including bedding and furniture. Open House features local designers, sustainable brands, and vintage, with clothing made from natural fibres. Baggins Shoes is home to the world’s largest collection of Converse and Vans with an onsite custom printing. 

Nezza Naturals

Specializing in organic body care, the products at Nezza Naturals are made locally in Victoria, BC. Originating on Galiano Island, Nezza Naturals was developed by a father and daughter team who hold the belief that plant-based ingredients hold powerful healing qualities.
