Thurston Bay Marine Provincial Park Anchorage

Thurston Bay Marine Provincial Par.  Thurston Bay Marine Park is large enough to hold many boats without feeling too crowded.  We’ve had good overnight anchorages in Handfield Bay, and in 36 feet behind Block Island.

The landlocked inlet behind Wilson Point, on the south side of Thurston Bay, is best entered at half tide or higher.  Wolferstan calls this inlet Anchorage Lagoon.   At the entrance, the least depth at zero tide is 2 feet or less.  We tiptoed in near the bottom of a 2.9-foot low tide with the depth sounder showing 6 feet (the boat drew 3 feet).   Inside we found four boats at anchor in a pretty setting, with 9 to 10 feet of depth.  This is a good place to know your vessel’s draft and the tidal range during your stay.

Be bear aware when ashore.
