Alert Bay Boat Harbour

Alert Bay Boat Harbour located 20 Fir Street, Bag 2800, Alert Bay, BC V0N 1A0 (250) 974-5727 boatharbour@alertbay.ca.  Monitors VHF 66A.  Good docks, 30 amp power, water, pumpout.  This is the breakwater-protected public wharf and floats in Alert Bay, located next to the ferry landing.  The harbor manager’s office features showers and flat-rate laundry.

Chart 3546 shows Alert Bay in good detail and shows where current runs up to 4 knots.  Protected moorage is available in the Boat Harbour basin at the head of the bay.

A small public float is in front of the main part of town.  The float is exposed to all winds and currents can run swiftly, but it is convenient when provisioning at the nearby grocery store.  Deeper in the bay, the breakwater protected boat harbour basin, northwest of the ferry landing, has moorage.  Anchorage is available in the bay; be sure to anchor clar of the ferry dock and its approach.

The Alert Bay village is about a half-mile walk from the Boat Harbour.  At the top of the dock, take a right and walk along the waterfront.  The village has a grocery store, pharmacy, pub, liquor store, restaurants, salon and spa, ATM, post office, and walk-in emergency clinic.  An excellent Visitor Cenre is on the water sideof the road, about midway into the commercial area.  It’s open 7 days a weekduring the season.
