Tod Inlet Anchorage

Tod Inlet.  No Discharge Zone, Gray water okay.  Tod Inlet reaches back behind Butchart Gardens into Gowlland Todd Provincial Park and has ample anchoring room.  Anchor in water deeper than 20 feet to protect eelgrass.  Green can Buoy U21 marks a rock.  Leave the bouy to port when entering.  The inlet is narrow when seen from Brentwood Bay, but opens somewhat after a bend.   In the narrow sections, you should plan to run a stern tie to shore.  Boats in the more open sections around the bend often can swing without a stern tie.  On Saturday n9ights the inlet is crowded with boats that come to see the fireworks display at the Gardens.

The dinghy dock on the southeastern shore of the inlet is provided by the Marine Conservations Society and BC Parks, look for the green  Marine Ecology float building.   A trail to the south leads to the main entrance of Butchart Gardens, about a 10-minute walk.  Stay left at the ‘Y’ in the trail.  It’s also a short dinghy ride to Butchart Cove where you can tie to the shore side of the dinghy dock and pay admission to the gardens at the backdoor entrance.   The dinghy dock in Tod Inlet serves as an access point for the Gowlland Tod Provincial Park with hiking trails connecting through the Gowlland Range.  During the summer months, volunteers set up afloat in Tod Inlet to provide information and answer questions.  The float is staffed by members of the Capital City Yacht Club on behalf of BC Parks.
