Village Island Broughton Archipelago Anchorage

Village Island Broughton Archipelago.  A site on the western shore of Village Island is often known incorrectly as MamaliIaculla.  This site is an abandoned, collapsing Indian village.  Anchor in the bay north of the village (be sure you are set).

First Nations Watchman are ready to assist during the peak season; contact them on VHF 79A.  The Native band charges $20 per person to see the village, with its empty hospital building, collapsing houses, fallen totem pole and Big House remains.   All fees go toward the cleanup of the village site and support for the Native Watchman.

If the watchman is not present or you arrive outside the peak period of July and August, The Mamalilikulla First Nations asks that you call their office at 250-287-2955 for permission to go ashore.  Mail your check for fees to 1441 B 16th Ave., Campbell River, BC V9W 2E4.
