Hanson Island The Broughtons Anchorage

Hanson Island.  The rugged and beautiful north shore of Hanson Island is indented by a number of bays and coves that are a gunkholer’s paradise.  The most popular anchorage is in Double Bay.  Also the location of the Pacific Outback Resort and a private fishing lodge.  Enter only along the west side of the bay.  The bay behind Spout Islet, to the east of Double Bay, is also a good anchorage.  Correspondent Deane Hislop writes: “We spent a night in the beautiful bay to the east of Spout islet.  The holding was good and provided protection from the summer afternoon westerlies.  The view of the whales in Blackfish Sound, the Miriam Range, and  1238-meter mt. Mathison was spectacular.”
