Esperanza Marina

Esperanza Marina monitors VHF 06.  It has a fuel dock with gasoline, diesel, lube oil.  Excellent water, phone service and free Wi-Fi.  A small store, with fishing gear and limited food, is on the fuel dock.  Moorage is available at the dock for boats up to 120 feet in front of the old boathouse, except during the month of July; call ahead.  The mission runs camps for local children.  When a camp is in session, facilities may not be available.

Esperanza is the home of the Nootka Mission.  Its story goes back to 1937, when the Shantyman Mission began a hospital at Esperanza.  This was in the tradition of the Mission, founded in northern Ontario in 1907 to serve shanty dwellers in outlying areas.  The Esperanza hospital no longer operates and the property is now owned by Esperanza Ministries Association, serving people of the west coast of Vancouver Island.  The property is immaculately kept.  The fuel dock is an important source of revenue.

Inquire about availability for visiting boaters.  Showers, washrooms, some 15 amp power, water, ice and laundry are available.  Sometimes, fresh Esperanza-grown produce and canned cheesecake are available for purchase.
