Sea Otter Cove Anchorage
Sea Otter Cove. South of Cape Scott, Sea Otter Cove is described in Sailing Directions as “indifferent shelter.” Nevertheless, Sea Otter Cove is a favourite of fish boats and is well-known to yachtsmen. The rocks and islets outside the entrance are awesome in their ruggedness. Inside, you feel safe but surrounded by hostile ground. Sea Otter Cove is an exciting place to be. We recommend it.
Enter from the south, between Hanna Point and the Helen Islands. Watmough’s book shows swells breaking almost across the entrance, but careful attention to the chart will bring you through. The channel is narrow and grows shallower as you go in.
