Russell Island Salt Spring Island Anchorage

Russell Island Anchorage.  Aerial photograph of the anchorage at Russell Island, Gulf Islands National Park Reserve.   Russell Island is just outside Fulford Harbour.  Anchorage on the northwest side of the island, fair holding, with views of mountains above Fulford Harbour.  A trail leads through open meadows and a forest of Douglas fir, arbutus (madrona) and Garry oak.  The original house dates back more than a century.  A caretaker lives on the island.  A boater we trust reports, “Russell Island is wonderful.”
