Battle Bay Anchorage
Battle Bay Anchorage. Battle Bay, north of the Bunsby Islands, has acceptable anchorages roughly off the Indian reserve, and in the nook that makes up the northeast shore. Approach the Longback Islands before making your turn into Battle Bay. One interesting anchorage is immediately west of Battle Bay, against the east shore of Acous Peninsula. To reach that anchorage, leave the Skirmish Islands to starboard as you approach. From there you’ll look across a sea of islands and rocks to the Bunsbys.
The Indian Reserve on the Acous Peninsula is the former home of the Checleset Band, now located in Walters Cove. You can find fallen totem poles serving as nurse logs, and the depressions of old longhouses.
