Bold Island Anchorage Desolation Sound

Bold Island anchorage is just north of Village Bay on the west side of Hoskyn Channel.   Correspondent Carol Ann Giroday reports that they enter through Crescent Channel, and have good anchorage in the basin at the northwest corner of Bold Island, approximately between the two drying reefs.   She says two oyster farms are in the area, but there is room for several boats to anchor, and that a wonderful oyster and clam beach is in the green-coloured drying nook on Quadra Island.

She adds, “We have gone ashore at this location and walked along Surge Narrows Road to nearby Village Bay Lake, where we enjoyed a freshwater swim.  From the anchorage, the view southward across to Read Island and Dunsterville Islet is spectacular.”  This anchorage may be exposed to southerlies.
