Halfmoon Bay Marina
Halfmoon Bay Marina is a public dock with 170 feet of mooring space is at the head of Halfmoon Bay. It is very shallow on the land side of the mooring float. Onshore, walk about a half block through a residential neighbourhood to an area with a store and a cafe with fresh bakery. Henry Hightower, a resident of Halfmoon Bay and a Grenfell 32 owner, provided us with the following insider’s view of the facilities and anchorage possibilities. He writes:
“The store at Halfmoon Bay government wharf is well stocked, and has the best bacon and free-range eggs, as well as fresh and packaged meat, fruit, vegetables and staples, fishing gear, beer, wine and liquor, convenience store stuff, and a gift shop”‘
If a strong wind is blowing or forecast, there will almost certainly be at least one tug and log boom fixed across the open south side of Priestland Cove, between the shore and the charted rocks. There is quite a bit of room to anchor behind its shelter.
