Port Clements Haida Gwaii

Port Clements Haida Gwaii.  Port Clements is a small town south of Masset.  It has a grocery store, post office, health clinic, liquor store, restaurants, and a pub.  A museum showcases the history of logging on Haida Gwaii.  Local businesses offer sightseeing tours and fishing trips.

Several miles from town, a hiking trail leads to the Golden Spruce heritage site, where a sacred, golden-coloured Sitka Spruce tree stood until a logger-turned-conservationist famously cut it down to protect logging.  John Valliant’s book The Golden Spruce tells this story with a lot of interesting facts about Haida Gwaii.

Transience moorage, 20 & 30 amp power, garbage drop, unpaved boat launch.  First-come, first-served, rafting required.  Register at the office three blocks away.  Ice, a payphone and groceries are available at the nearby Bayview market.
