Ucluelet Yacht Moorage

Ucluelet has moorage for up to 130′ yachts with fuel, provisioning, repairs and good dining, the village of Ucluelet is the commercial center of Barkley Sound.  The channel leading into Ucluelet is well buoyed.  Following the rule of Red, Right, Returning, you will have no problems.  Spring Cove, to port a short distance inside the channel is where fish boats used to discharge their catch.  The plant deep in the cove is closed and the docks are posted with No Trespassing signs.  Spring Cove is a good anchorage.

Ucluelet has one fuel dock, located on the town side.  Several fish processing plants and public docks used by large commercial boats are also on the town side of the inlet.  Small public docks used by the Ucluelet native Band are on the east side of the inlet, across from town.

In town, halfway up Ucluelet Inlet, Pioneer Boat Works has a marine railway for haul-out and repairs.  Their chandlery, next to the ways, has a good stock of marine supplies, commercial and sport fishing tackle, and charts.   Pioneer Boat Works serves the commercial fishing fleet.  Cruiser will find what they need there.   Around the winding streets of Ucluelet you will find gifts shops, art galleries, including an excellent Native Gallery, the Ucluelet Aquarium, dining from casual to quiet nice, a large co-op grocery and general merchandise store, and other essential services.  It’s a pleasant hike out the road to the Coast Guard station at Amphitrite Point.   The Wild Pacific Trail begins just beyond He-Tin-Kis Par, near the Coast Guard Station.

Ucluelet is the only customs reporting station on the west coast of Vancouver Island.  Open all year.  The 52 Step Dock in Ucluelet Inlet, a short distance beyond buoy Y44, is the official Customs dock.  Call (888) 226-7277 by cell or the on-dock payphone.
