Cruising to Bella Bella and Yacht Provisioning Opportunity

Bella Bella is a major Native village, with gasoline and diesel, potable water, garbage drop, and a good grocery store and nice cafe; cell phone service is good.  The village has a hospital.  The closest laundromat is at Shearwater.  The fuel dock attendants are courteous, but religious about their lunch hour.  You may have to be patient.  The fuel pumps and meters are on the wharf above the fuel float.   They extend a hose down to the fuel dock.  New Bella Bella’s water treatment plant provides a steady stream of clear, potable water at the fuel dock.

A new large grocery store was completed in 2017 and includes a bakery and meat department.  Yacht provisioning opportunity for stocking up.   This is a fun place to shop for gifts and food items to re-stock your gallery.  The supply barge arrives weekly on Sundays.  Jus north of this stroe is the Waglisla Senior Centre, with native artwork.  The locals are friendly and eager to share their stories.  Vistors are also welcome to tour the K-12 Bella Bella Community School.

Guests at Shearwater can take the water axi to Bella Bella to shop at the band store or to drop off or pick up passengers or parts from the airport.  Scheduled airline service runs throughout the day.

Bella Bella airport is about 2 miles from the village.  You can walk along the road or take a taxi.  The taxi is often on standing by before or after a flight or call (250) 957-2582 or VHF channel 14.  They know the schedules.  Wilderness Seaplanes serves Bella Bella with multiple flights per day.
