Pipestem Inlet Anchorages
Pipestem Inlet West Coast Vancouver Island. Pipestem Inlet is beautiful and deep, bordered by high mountains and lined with forest. With one possible exception, though, the only anchoring possibilities are near the mouth. That exception is the little cove near the head of the inlet, behind the 32-meter island.
Near the mouth of Pipestem Inlet, the good anchorages are behind Bazett Island, either southwest or southeast, or behind Refuge Island. If you choose Bazett Island, the southwest anchorage is well into the southwest cove, off the mouth of the drying inlet coloured green on the chart. The southeast anchorage is in the little thumb-shaped inlet, or along the adjacent shore, stern-tied. There are a number of large yellow buoys in Bazett Island’s southwest cove.
The Refuge Island anchorage is directly north of Refuge Island, a bit east of the 16-meter island. This anchorage and the Bazett Island anchorages are with easy dinghy commute to Lucky Creek. Aquaculture buoys occupy part of this cove but still leave room for boats to anchor.
Pipestem Inlet Charts 3670 and 3671. Entrance (midchannel between Refuge Island and Bazett Island) 49°01.30′ N, 125°18.65′ W. Position (head of inlet): 49°02.33′ N, 125°12.22′ W
