Otter Bay Marina – Otter Bay Moorage
Otter Bay Marina is located 2311 McKinnon Road North Pender Island and monitors VHF 66A. Moorage open all year, full services May 15 to September 30th. Washrooms, showers, laundry, 15 & 30 amp power, 50 amp power on “A” dock, launch ramp, gazebo, children’s play area, two heated pools, free Wi-Fi. Scooters for rent. The mooring buoys off the dock are private.
The upper pool is for families and is open mid-May through Labour Day. When both pools are operating, the lower pool is for adults. The small convenience store carries baked goods, some groceries, frozen meat, poultry and fish, gifts, clothing, and some boating supplies. Motor scooters, kayaks, and SUP rentals. A daily or weekly day camp is offered for children through Dog Mermaid Eco Excursions.
This popular marina is on the west side of North Pender Island, facing Swanson Channel. Look for the tall flagpoles on the observation deck, just past the ferry landing. The marina was taken over by the new owners in the fall of 2017. Upgrades to the lower pool and washrooms have been completed. Cozy fire pits with seating were added along the walkways among the colourful flower beds. Scheduled weekend BQ’s begin in June. It just keeps getting better.
The coffee shop is open for breakfast and lunch daily during the season. For a short excursion, take the dinghy across the bay to Roe Island Park, a lovely spot to stretch the legs.
Caution: A green spar buoy is off the corner of the marina socks. Red, Right, Returning means you leave this buoy to port as you enter. Do not pass between the buoy and the dock. A rock 2 feet below the surface at zero tide lurks between the buoy and the dock.
Golf: The 9-hole Pender Island Golf Course is about a 15 – minute walk from the marina. No tee times needed. The marina can give you a ride up the hill to the course for a small fee. The golf course has a new restaurant, Zuppa’s.
