Buccaneer Bay Anchorage

Buccaneer Bay.  Buccaneer Bay is between North Thormanby and South Thormanby Islands and has a beautiful white sand beach at the south end of the west side.

Be careful to enter Buccaneer Bay by leaving Tattenham Ledge Light Buoy Q51 to port.  The buoy is well north of South Thormanby Island, but it marks the end of Tattenham Ledge and should be respected.

Once in Buccaneer Bay, anchor in 30 to 40 feet behind the Surrey Islands or 20 to 30 feet in Water Bay.  The Surrey Islands anchorage is particularly cozy and attractive.

A private moorage is in Water Bay.  During the day small boat traffic to and from the dock will rock you some, but it dies down at night.  The dock is posted for loading/unloading only, 2 hours maximum.

Watching your depths, you can also snug up to the shoaling waters off Gill Beach at the south end of the bay.  In a southeasterly, you’ll get some wind but no seas.  There are no protections from a northwesterly.
